Portrait #64

Frikkie used to run the surf shop on Strand Beach Road.  A corner of the shop led onto a balcony overlooking the beach.  One day I stopped in on my way for a surf.  He pointed to a spot in line with the chimney on the yacht club where we watched surfers having great waves. So I paddled out there.  And had some good waves. I think of Frikkie every time I paddle out to this spot.

Frikkie sat for some portrait sketches and later I completed this study in light and shadow in my studio.
